All Wal-Mart stores have a "sporting goods" department where they sell camping, boating, exercise, fishing, and hunting equipment. But not all of them have real, stuffed animals on display as decorations. These ghastly displays are disgusting and offensive to many customers, who can see them from other parts of the store.
Since only some stores have them, and others do not, it is not company policy to 'decorate' with dead animals, just each store's choice. Please join in asking this company to make a policy to remove these displays from all of its stores.
To contact WalMart further, please see this link. The bottom of that page has more advice on reaching the right people. Also go to your local store and see if it is one with dead animals on display. If so, ask to speak to a manager about it. You will also find the store manager and market manager's names and phone numbers posted on the wall behind the customer service desk.
Dead Animals in Stores Offend Me
Dear Sir,
I am writing to you today about the sporting goods sections of some Wal-Mart stores.
People who are not interested in those products can of course avoid that area of the store, but some stores have real, stuffed animals on display high above the gun cabinets. This may appeal to hunters, but most find it disturbing and it diminishes their otherwise pleasant shopping experience.
Hunters can find the sporting goods section easily enough without having to look for dead animals in the air. Since some stores have these displays, and others do not, I am assuming it is not company policy that each store has to have such displays. There probably is not a policy at all about it, so I am respectfully asking you to consider making one.
It will not hurt sales and may even improve sales, as non-hunters may stop avoiding these areas and see there is also a wide array of exercise equipment and numerous other items nearby. At the same time, the general public will see that you are listening to them and improving the stores for a more appropriate, modern look that is comfortable for all.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
[Your name]
