In July, Verizon Wireless will introduce a new set of data plans, removing the option for Unlimited data and creating a set of "tiered" data plans based on usage (e.g. 2GB, 5GB, 10GB) ranging from $30/mo to $80/mo. These prices are in addition to the required voice plans which begin at about $50/mo.
As long-term Verizon Wireless subscribers, it is the feeling of many in the community that these prices are unfair and represent corporate greed. In a nutshell, Verizon is taking advantage of their customers.
With a brand-new, high-speed 4G network, it will be more possible than ever to eat through 2GB of data per month. Verizon is being unfair across the board.

Reverse tiered usage-based data plans
Greetings,
As a Verizon Wireless customer, I've been thrilled to see your high-speed and next-generation 4G LTE network come online across the United States. It is truly this type of innovation and technological prowess which makes you one of the best mobile service providers in the world!
I also was very encouraged over the past several months as you continued to offer unlimited data packages for smartphones at $29.99 per month no matter whether I was using a 3G device or a device capable of taking advantage of the new 4G network! This was truly an innovative approach to mobile data services, and I was happy to pay that price for such a capability!
It was that approach to data pricing that placed Verizon well ahead of rivals such as AT&T, T-Mobile, and even Sprint.
Unfortunately, when I heard about the new usage-based pricing coming to Verizon plans, I began to think that my confidence in your customer-first strategy was misplaced.
I don't think that tiered data packages are a bad thing. In fact, this can be an excellent method of differentiating your business from others by providing consumers with affordable "buckets" of data tailored to their specific use case.
However, at the pricing announced this month, I believe that the options are neither fair, balanced, or seeking to put the customer first. In fact, I feel quite slighted. While you're providing a new and higher-speed network that should increase customer satisfaction, such a network also provides the incentive for uses which consume more data than current 3G networks allow. Not only will data usage increase, but consumers will use their allotment faster than ever! This should create more and more incentives for customer interaction with the Verizon network!
Instead, the current usage-based pricing scheme punishes the consumer for using Verizon, causes them worry and fear in regard to overage charges, and will most likely result in large amounts of customer attrition as they seek cheaper options, whether that be in a completely different service provider or simply forgoing a smartphone in favor of limited feature phones. My guess is that this is not a future that you desire. Your customers don't wish this either.
Please re-evaluate your data package pricing models and either re-introduce the Unlimited option at the current price along with some tiered options at lower prices, or consider continuing providing usage-based plans but at much higher data amounts (e.g. 5GB for $30).
Your customers will thank you by continuing their loyalty to the brand and recommending Verizon to family and friends for years to come.
Thanks very much for your time.
