Why This Is Important

Following the example of the San Francisco Giants, more professional sports teams have announced plans to make videos for the "It Gets Better" project. Please join me in asking the Vancouver Canucks to join in by creating their own "it Gets Better" video, and thus become the first Canadian pro hockey team to participate in the project.

And don't forget to share this with your friends!

You can also tweet the Canucks to ask them to make a video:

Please make an "It Gets Better" video

Greetings,

I am writing to ask you to make a video telling LGBTQ youth that "it gets better." While several other professional sports teams have either released videos or announced their intentions to do so, no pro hockey teams have made videos yet, nor have any Canadian teams. I'm hoping you'll change this.

Bullying and harassment are tough to deal with regardless of who you are, but when it seems that society itself is against you, the barriers can seem insurmountable. By making this video, you'd be providing the kind of support that helps make those barriers manageable, and setting a positive example for those who look up to you as role models.

Please, take some time to publicly speak out in support of LGBTQ youth. I would love to see my team be the first Canadian hockey team to make an "It Gets Better" video.

Sincerely,

[Your name]
