On April 9, an elephant imprisoned by Shrine Circus became "startled" and kicked and stomped a circus worker to death in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Compassionate individuals have been prevailing upon the Shriners to stop using animals for years to no avail, despite the fact that their circuses are implicated in a growing list of deadly incidents involving wild animals.

Dear Sir or Madam,
For years, compassionate individuals have called upon Shrine Circus to end its exploitation of animals for "entertainment." And once again, Shrine Circus is in the news for said same.
On April 9, a "startled" elephant kicked and stomped a circus worker to death. This is hardly an isolated incident - in 2005, a trainer was stomped to death by an elephant used in a Shrine Circus in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In 2002 and again in 2003, elephants bolted from Shrine Circus tents and went on rampages in Wisconsin and Michigan, respectively.
To any reasonable person, it is clear that exotic animals don't belong in circuses. No one benefits from capturing, imprisoning, and torturing wild animals - particularly for an end as petty as cheap entertainment.
Please, I urge you to end, once and for all, the use of animals in Shrine Circuses. Thank you for your kind consideration.
Sincerely,
[Your name]
