Around the world 75 million children are not in primary school, and 225 million children are unable to complete secondary school.  This is a tragedy for these kids, their families, and their countries.  Children are 2 times as likely to die before age 5 if their mother is not educated.  Also, for each year boys attend school their chances of joining violent activities decreases by 20%.  As education increases, family health, economic security, and peace also increase.

Obama pledged $2 billion for a global education fund during his campaign.  Now is the time for him to act on that promise.  Sign this letter to Obama asking him to establish a Global Fund for Education.

Educate Kids Around the Globe--It Will Make Us Safer

Dear President Obama

More than 75 million primary school-aged children around the world do not have access to a primary basic education. At least 225 million young people can't complete important secondary education. The 2015 deadline for the achieving the Millennium Development Goals - including goals related to education - is on the horizon, and so now is the time to take action.

We know that when children are pulled out of school to work, to help care for households, and even to be sold into servitude, real problems for those children and their families are not far behind.

During the campaign, you pledged $2 billion for a global education fund and pledged to support then-Senator Clinton's Education for All Act. The U.S. should lead the world to create a new multilateral Global Fund for Education that will spur coordinated investment in global education and be a critical mechanism to monitor progress toward achieving the Education For All.

As a concerned citizen who realizes how important education has been to my life and in our nation, I urge you to seize this moment and lead the world to create a multilateral Global Fund for Education.

Thank you for your leadership.
