Orlando, Florida is notorious for animal exploitation from Sea World and Dicovery Cove to the many zoos and reptile parks. Orlando is also well known for alligators and features Gatorland amongst many other alligator parks. What people may not be so familiar with is mini-golf courses that lure tourists with the chance to see and feed real live alligators. As enticing as this may sound it is nothing more than cruel. These alligators are kept in tiny pits consisting of shallow water holes and small streams. They are enclosed by wire mesh fencing either side, giving them very little space to move around. These living quarters are packed full of dozens of alligators that have nothing to do all day but sit and be taunted by tourists. The tourists are allowed to feed the alligators using wooden fishing rods, capped with metal hooks  which is not only provokes the alligators but makes their whole lives a misery. Imagine having to sit in the same position each day while you watch cruel tourists force a hook in to your mouth all for their own pleasure. This method of feeding the alligators and the small size of their living quarters must be stopped or at the very least improved. One of the major Gator mini gold courses in Orlando and Florida is the Congo River Golf company. This petition will be targeting all 9 of the Congo River Golf bussinesses located in Orlando and the rest of Florida.

Please stop abusing alligators

Dear Congo River Golf,

I find it very distasteful and cruel that you lure tourists to your golf courses by using alligators to draw them in. These alligators live miserable lives being kept in small alligator pits that consist of nothing more than a dozen metres or so of water. These encloures are crammed full of as many alligators as possible to excite tourists. This is not the only cruel method your company employ. You also attract tourists by letting them feed the alligators using metal clips/hooks on the end of fishing rods. This is not only provocative to the alligators but also makes their lives even more miserable. They are conditioned to associate these fishing rods with food so will sit in the same position each day, regardless of how distressing the feeding method is to them, in order to satisfy their hunger. I urge you to stop this method of feeding immediately as it makes your tourist attraction look unappealing and an advocate for animal cruelty. I also ask that you improve the living conditions for these alligators by either extending the size of their pits or distributing the number of alligators more evenly in each alligator pit so that they are not so packed together.

Thank you for your time.
