It's clear - primates shouldn't be pets. In addition to the problems being kept as a pet creates for the animals themselves, pet primates can also endanger their owners and other humans, and could be responsible for transmitting a number of serious diseases into the human population.
The Arkansas House of Representatives is considering SB 901, a ban on private ownership of primates. This bill passed the Senate unanimously; it's time for the House to do the same.
SB 901 is progressive, smart-thinking legislation. Urge the Arkansas House to pass this bill as soon as possible.

Please Vote to Ban Primate Ownership!
Greetings,
I was thrilled to learn recently on Change.org that the Arkansas Senate had unanimously approved SB 901, a bill which would ban private ownership, breeding, and transfer of non-human primates. I'm writing to urge you to vote yes on this bill in the House.
There are many reasons why private primate ownership should be illegal. First and foremost, non-human primates are wild animals, unsuited to being pets. As primates grow older, the risk of aggressive and potentially lethal behavior grows. Primates also pose some risk of transmitting serious diseases to humans.
I hope you will join your colleagues in the Senate in approving this important piece of legislation.
