Within 24 hours of generating tens of thousands of e-mails, thousands of Facebook and Twitter posts on Air France's public sites, and hundreds of phone calls to the airline's cargo offices (so many that the airline shut down its phone line and Facebook wall!), PETA supporters convinced Air France to cancel the shipment of 60 monkeys to cruel deaths at a notoriously awful laboratory.

PETA has just learned that Air France plans to transport 60 monkeys this Wednesday (February 1) from Africa to the U.S. for use in cruel and deadly experiments at the notorious Shin Nippon Biomedical Laboratories (SNBL), where PETA recently conducted an investigation that unveiled shocking cruelty.

We need your help to urge the airline to cancel this shipment!

If Air France moves ahead with its plans, the monkeys, supplied by an African facility run by the infamous Bioculture, will be crammed into tiny wooden crates and shipped to Paris in the dark and terrifying cargo hold of a passenger plane. The monkeys will then be loaded onto a cargo plane and transported to Chicago O'Hare International Airport. Upon their arrival in the U.S. on February 2, the monkeys will be subjected to yet another exhausting trip as they are loaded into the back of a truck and transported to SNBL. In total, these terrified monkeys will endure more than 80 hours of grueling transport before they arrive at SNBL, where they will likely be tormented and killed in cruel experiments.

The monkeys are currently scheduled to arrive in the U.S. this Thursday, February 2. With time running out, your voice is needed now.

Please send an e-mail to Air France officials now and urge them to cancel this shipment and join the growing number of airlines who refuse to ship primates for use in invasive experiments.

Cancel Shipment of Monkeys to US Laboratories

Dear Air France,

I have learned that you plan to ship monkeys this Wednesday from Africa to the US to face a life of misery and suffering in a laboratory. As you know, almost every one of your major competitors – including Delta Air Lines, Qantas, American Airlines, British Airways, Aer Lingus, Cathay Pacific and dozens of others – has pledged never to profit from this appalling trade. Air Canada's recent announcement that it wishes to withdraw from this trade leaves Air France even more isolated.

Monkeys are torn away from their homes in the wild and bred in squalid conditions in order to supply an industry in which they are deliberately poisoned, mutilated, infected with diseases and routinely neglected and abused. These intelligent, complex and social animals are denied freedom and the family and social bonds they depend on. Some are killed immediately – others face a lifetime of suffering in laboratory cages.

There is still time to do the right thing. Cancel this shipment and immediately introduce a policy to end all transportation of primates for laboratories. Until that policy is in place, I will never travel on Air France and I will ensure that all my friends and family know of your involvement in this shameful trade.
