Drilling for coal seam gas has only just started in the Kerry valley - our farmland is pristine and our underground water systems have been untouched by CSG activities. Arrow energy want to change that with a series of wells, huge webs of pipelines, access roads, compressor stations and treatment plants. The risks associated with gas production won't be known if we don't fully understand our underground water systems. We know accidents happen. If Arrow Energy pushes ahead with drilling before tests are done, there is an increased potential for contamination. Without a baseline water study, we won't know if something has gone wrong.
