Abercrombie & Fitch: Begin to sell XL and XXL sizes for women
The Issue
Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Mike Jeffries has openly admitted that he does not want his company selling to "overweight" customers because they are not usually the "cool" kids in school and do not belong in his store. In a society that is plagued by low self-esteem developing early in children's teens, we as a society do not need a company making kids feel like they are not wanted because of their size. There should not be discrimination against those who do not fit the "ideal" weight or figure the CEO believes is best. Teens come in all shapes and sizes, and Abercrombie & Fitch has no right to say who can and cannot wear their products based on size. It's not becoming "vanilla" as Jeffries put it, it's becoming fair. Being "cool" means having self-confidence, not fitting a cookie cutter size and shape. The company offers XL and XXL sizes for men, and women deserve those same sizes.
