Mission
Through parental awareness, public pressure, and legislative initiatives,
Parents for Ethical Marketing encourages corporations to adopt responsible
marketing standards and practices that sustain the health of children and families.
History
Parents for Ethical Marketing was conceived in 2007 as a reaction to the onslaught of corporate marketing directed at children. Since then more than 17,000 people have visited our website or contributed to the discussion at our blog, Corporate Babysitter. PEM gives a voice to those concerned about the effects of corporate marketing on children. Read more about our short history.
What We Do
Parents for Ethical Marketing educates parents about the effects of corporate marketing on children. Parents are better able to make sound decisions in a consumer culture.
Parents for Ethical Marketing encourages corporations and advertisers to market responsibley in order to help create and sustain healthy children and families.
We do these by:
1. Blogging at Corporate Babysitter.
2. Writing a monthly e-newsletter.
3. Promoting other resources.
4. Educating parent groups through free workshops.
5. Urging members to contact corporations.
