Withdraw your support

    1. Petition by

      Michelle Lujan Grisham for Congress

In response to the news stories that New Mexico State Rep. David Chavez (R) introduced a proposed constitutional amendment which would define marriage as a heterosexual union.  We have launched a petition to ask him to focus on  all the challeges we  face in New Mexico and withdraw this bill.

Dear Rep. David Chavez,

I am writing to urge you to withdraw your bill that proposed a constitutional amendment which would define marriage as a heterosexual union. New Mexico is a place where we respect our neighbors and families regardless of race, age, religion and sexual orientation. We need to focus our energy and efforts on fixing our economy, creating good quality jobs, providing quality education and protecting our most vulnerable populations.

I hope you will consider withdrawing your proposed constitutional amendment. We need every person in New Mexico working together to tackle the challenges we face as a community. Let's not waste a moment on issues that distract us from the task of creating jobs or might harm New Mexico's image, tourism and competitiveness in the job market.

      Our Constitution trumps the

Bible. Therefore we have to grant every

citizen the right to marry whomever they please. We are all made in the image of God so why discriminate against some ?????

To me this bill is wrong on so many levels - too many to mention in a short post. LOVE is never wrong. I believe someday this issue will go the way of "illegal" interracial marriages of the 50s and 60s.

This is, or should be, a non-issue. If ANY two people want to commit to each other and have the legal proectections also, how does that threaten anybody?

It is all about civil rights. We are citizens too!

Separation of church and state.... I believe the only reason people don't want to see gay marriage is because they think it is a sin, or they get grossed out by it because they don't share a common view.
