    1. Top Criminal Court to Hear Hank Skinner's DNA Plea

Death row inmate Hank Skinner’s decade-long fight for DNA testing, which he hopes will prove his innocence in a grisly West Texas triple murder, will take center stage this morning in the state’s highest criminal court.

Skinner, now 50, was convicted in 1995 of the strangulation and beating death of his girlfriend Twila Busby and the stabbing deaths of her two adult sons on New Year’s Eve 1993 in Pampa. Skinner maintains he is innocent and was unconscious on the couch at the time of the killings, intoxicated from a mixture of vodka and codeine.

A decision from the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals could take weeks or months.

    2. WE HAVE A STAY!!!!

UNLIMITED STAY GRANTED! Thank you ALL for your support! This petition will remain open until further notice! On to 150,000!

    3. Call Rick Perry Today!

Only two days remain before Hank Skinner will be executed in Texas. Please call Gov. Perry's office to ask that he stay the execution and allow the evidence to be tested. Here's how:

1.) Make the Call: Dial the general number for Governor Perry: (512) 463-2000

2.) Speak Your Mind: When the receptionist in your representative's office answers the phone, politely say:

My name is ________ and I live in ________, (Your State). I'm calling to ask Gov. Perry to stay the execution of Hank Skinner and allow for DNA testing in his case. Gov. Perry signed SB122 into law this year to ensure that if DNA evidence is available to prove innocence or guilt, it can and will be tested. Please stay Hank Skinner’s execution and test the evidence for DNA.

3.) Spread the Word: Share this blog post and ask your friends to demand DNA be tested for Hank Skinner: http://news.change.org/stories/test-the-dna-call-in-day-for-hank-skinner

I BELIVE IT COULDN'T HURT THE GOVERNMENT'S FUNDS TOO MUCH TO GIVE THIS MAN HIS REQUESTS FOR ALL THE DNA TESTS. IT'S A LIFE THAT IS BEING TAKEN, BUT I WILL AGREE TO THE FACT THAT HIS ATTORNEY DIDN'T DO A GOOD JOB WITH GATHERING ALL EVIDENCE. OBVIUOSLY, HANK REALIZED THIS AND DESERVES THE PROPER DNA TESTS.

I'm not anti-death penalty. In the right circumstances it has its place. However, one hundred innocent men should go free before one innocent man is put to death for something he didn't do. If it is available, it should be done.

I believe in justice and a fair trial for all Americans. We have the technology to provide DNA testing to prove or disprove innocence or guilt. No man/woman should be put to death without proof of guilt beyond reasonable doubt. I still think it was a disgrace that those known as the West Mephis Three had to sign an Alford Plea before their release as opposed to exoneration. Most importantly, when we we keep the innocent behind bars, the guilty, who remain a danger to society, are free to do additional harm.
