Change the zoning ordinance to allow backyard chickens

Backyard chickens are fun, friendly pets with educational value for children about where food like eggs come from. They provide food security for poor families. They lay healthier eggs compared to store-bought eggs. They give gardeners high-quality fertilizer. They control flies and other pests, not add to them, and dispose of weeds and kitchen scraps that otherwise might end up in the landfill.

I have backyard chickens and support it 100% My children and I would be devastated if someone told us we could not keep them anymore.

I have some pet chickens in my backyard. I really hate it when people say that chickens don't belong in neighborhoods. That is just crazy. My chickens are pets just like my dogs... you wouldn't say that dogs didn't belong, would you?

in this troubled time we should be applauding one's ability to raise their own food in any reasonable means. A small flock of chickens would certainly meet this criteria. Instead we condemn those who do not conform to what "real food" is. Real food is not processed or monitored by a bureaucratic agency, only concerned with the fiscal outcome. Real food is grown on small farms, backyards and rooftops with care and respect.
