STOP THE CURRENT PLAN TO BUILD AN ELECTRIC AUTOMATED GARAGE AT CITY HALL

    1. West Hollywood Residents Alliance
    2. Petition by

      West Hollywood Residents Alliance

      WH, CA

The City of West Hollywood is currently moving forward on building a  $16 million dollar automated electric garage to be connected to city hall.

1.The automated features of this proposed garage have no long-term operational track record to demonstrate its stability and capacity to operate with out service interruptions.

2..There is no clear demonstrated report or independent analysis the shows that the current parking needs of city hall staff are not being met with parking that is currently being used by them on a daily basis.

3.The neighboring residents to where this project will be built are not in support of this being inserted into their neighborhood.

4.The current 16 million-doallar price tag is excessive and an irresponsible use of public funds.

5.The project lacks a majority of positive support from the residents of the city.

6.The future of city hall staying at this location is currently unclear as of today the city manager has requested in the 2013 budget a study to explore moving city hall.

7.This is the most expensive approach to adding more parking into this part of the city.

8..The funding for this project to date remains unclear since the redevelopment agency of West Hollywood is currently being dissolved because of The California States Governors legislation on the books to phase these local agency’s out.

9.The use of  $16 Million dollars of resident’s money could be used in other projects that would result in a bigger gain to the residents and city as a whole.

10. The selling of bonds to fund this project will increase the city’s long-term debt and leave the city with an increase in total debt responsibility

What's happening to our quaint little city in Los Angeles? They are tearing down single family homes and building tall condos. Adding the parking structure will also add to the congestion in our city!

Too much money for something that is really not needed. WeHo is already on the map, it doesn't need this to be an additional tourist stop and there's really not that much traffic stopping here that an automated parking structure is needed. Build one next to something that is time sensitive like an airport or busy Metro Rail. Or hey ya, put this money towards public transport, not public parking.

This project is far too expensive and the technology is not known to be reliable.

a basic theme of public transportation is that when there is no longer enough public parking people are forced to use public transportation which is actually the green solution we should be spending 16 million dollars on.
