I do not feel that it is right that a company can force a customer to have store credit with their company by issuing out Target Gift Cards instead of sending the REFUND back to the original form of payment. If you used your credit card to make an online payment, Target will issue you a refund back to your credit card used. This is not the same if the purchase was made using PayPal. Target does not have an asterisk on the PayPal method of payment to tell you this. Nor do the agents advise you of this when you make a purchase or when you inquire about canceling an order. They do advise you that you get a complete refund to the method of payment used unless you paid with a gift card.

ON 11/24/11, I purchased a TV online through target.com. I called Target.com customer service after I purchased the TV on 11/25/11 (less than 24 hours after purchase and before the TV shipped) I was told I could not cancel the online order. Instead, I would have to refuse the shipment at the door and wait for the TV to be sent back and registered as “returned”, and then I would get a FULL REFUND BACK TO THE METHOD OF PAYMENT I USED. I specifically asked to make sure it WOULD NOT be refunded back as a gift card. The customer service agent advised me that it would be sent back to my original form of payment.

Today I received an email from target.com stating this:
We wanted to let you know that item(s) from your order (Order #xxxxxxxxxxx) were returned to us and your return is approved. Refunds will be credited to the original form of payment within 7-10 business days. Purchases made with Giftcards will be credited with an eGiftCard.
Thanks for shopping at Target.
Team Target.

Thanks for shopping at Target.

This item I never actually even saw because it stayed on the truck when they were delivering it, and I refused the shipment just as the Target.com customer service agent advised me to do.

I am currently talking with TARGET.COM trying to get my REFUND and not store credit. I think everyone should be aware of this practice that Target.com is doing and should join me in having it changed.

I made the purchase using my PayPal account; therefore, my refund should be returned to my PayPal account. I never even saw this item off the truck so it was never even opened!

I still think they should change their company policy on this for other people who do not wish to have their refund sent out as a gift card.
