WE THE PEOPLE dont want Plan A or B for beach redevelopment on Pensacola Beach

Please sign this petition because it is unnecessary to build an elevated roadway (Plan B) which would eliminate parking spaces and cost Escambia County $25 million plus an increased toll at the foot of the Bob Sikes Bridge. It is also unnecesary to pass Plan A, which consists of shifting roadways and building an elevatated pedestrian crossway much like the one at Gulf Breeze High School, which would cost the tax payers $18million.   Send a message to your county commisioners that if they vote this in, we will vote them out!

I was born in Pensacola, lived in Gulf Breeze, and spent many hours on the beach. I don't want to see it further commercialized the next time I take a vacation there and ultimately move back there.

I think it's important to maintain the character of Pensacola Beach. The pedestrian scramble idea presented makes a lot of sense -- as does the notion that even the most average of tourists can follow the "walk" "don't walk" signs currently in use. What exactly IS the problem? If it's parking, then address that issue more specifically. The LOCALS are the one's who are the HEART of Pensacola beach --- not the tourists who are here for only a couple of months. If someone wants a PanamaCity Beach experience... they are welcome to go there. WE want to maintain our accessible, family friendly, natural beach beauty PLEASE!
