From Petition Organizer: Things are looking up! Thank you for the support, and there is so much going on. The good news the developer and owner are willing to help my family to make a plan about the next steps. The house will be untouched no destroying it for anything. So thats a huge relief. I am so happy we had so much support from the community. Some of the things written on here or on FB were misinterpreted. Also unclear, but we finally cleared them up. I can only pray for much more positive outcome. Thank you all.

It's important to my community! Why build a dog park when we can fix up the ones we have? There are better places to build it then Beaverdam Road!

    4. "Donated" property from owner?

This was a completely false statement. The owner has not yet donated the Killian house (where I live) property to these people. If you watched the WLOS News 13 at 11pm. This was complete lies from these people. There are two dog parks here in Asheville that are on swampy grounds. My house would be the "Parking lot" to a dog park!!! To ANOTHER swampy dog park. Why not take your money North Asheville Dog Park organization to FIX the other two parks! Why are you going to bring down a historical home for a parking lot? Thats such crap. Lets also mention how it would be hazardous to our community if this is built. Its a flooded area in the lower part of the property. The creek runs down to Beaver Lake. Think about it. Dog park... Dogs use the bathroom... isn't being cleaned up (just like the other parks no one EVER cleanse up after their pets!) and families living along side this creek? I don't think this Organization understands at all. Take this park else where!

I believe in fairness. If there is another place to build the dog park, that will not require someone's eviction, that should be the pursued option.

This is a friend of my cousin. I've read the petition. This act seems very unfair!

The Preservation Society of Asheville & Buncombe County recognizes the Killian House as one of, if not THE, oldest houses in the city limits of Asheville. We have heard many conflicting reports about a dog park proposal for North Asheville. We are not opposed to the development of a dog park in north Asheville. However, to be very clear, the Preservation Society will aggressively oppose any plan that includes the demolition of this important part of our history. The Flores Family was kind enough to invite our staff in to the house today to document the historic details and construction techniques of the interior. This house retains a large amount of its original detailing and has been placed on the North Carolina Study List for a listing on the National Register of Historic Places. Work that includes a solution to keep the house in place must be a goal of any partner involved in this process.

I am originally from Asheville and have frequented the dog parks there when I have visited my family. Asheville's time and money would be better spent improving what you already have instead of ruining a family's home to build a new one!

My family and the Flores family have been friends for nearly 20 years and it is wrong that anyone can be evicted from their HOME for a dog park. This is where their family has grown, where Natalie learned to ride a bicycle and to drive a car, I think we forget the meaning of someone's HOME. To others it might just be a house but to the Flores family it is much more. There are many places for people to walk their dogs already, WE DO NOT WANT A DOG PARK OFF BEAVERDAM IN NORTH ASHEVILLE. Find another location where no one IS LIVING!
