Wayne Smith, CEO Community Health Systems: Give the nurses of Northside Hospital the raise they haven't had in 7 years

"My favorite part about being a nurse is being able to provide quality care to both patients and families...that's what I live for."

Since 1980, Jeannie Mulichak has selflessly served the Youngstown area as a registered nurse. Her service towards her community and passion for her career is unmatched, however, Jeannie and many of the nurses at Northside Medical Center have not seen a raise in over six years.

"Morale at the hospital amongst the nurses has been getting worse. We haven't seen a raise in seven years and with our rising insurance premiums, we are literally going backwards in the wage scale. It's time they show value in their employees."

Wayne Smith, CEO of Community Health Systems, received over $28.5 million in 2011, yet he has been unwilling to give some of his employees the wages and respect they deserve.

Help us fight for the Northside Medical nurses and get them the raise they have earned!

I know the nurses there love their jobs, but the conditions they are working under is putting them at risk. Low staffing hurts nurses and patients. It's important that the nurses are valued and treated with respect. CHS and the administration does not respect the Northside nurses.

I am a nursing student graduating in May and feel strongly that these nurses are striving for safe patient staffing, optimal quality care, and deserve to be paid fairly! They are not greedy, only looking to make a living and are concerned with new nurse retention rates and the effects this has on patient care. I have seen these nurses in action and they are remarkable human beings that deserve respect!

Cost of living has changed as should wages..Experienced nurses are needed for positive patient outcomes and should also be able to provide for their own families with a fair wage! Remember nursing is a career not a job!

I am a member of the ONA/ANA...Nurses need respect for what they do and a raise in pay lack for 7 years is not respectful to those who work the hardest for you. Nursing is a mission in life, a calling, but adequate pay is essential to keep the best of the best.
