Tell Wandsworth Council not to punish innocent people!

      London, United Kingdom

Wandsworth Borough Council want to evict a council tenant for involvement in the recent London riots.

The problem is, the woman they're evicting had nothing to do with the riots - her son was the one involved. But if Wandsworth have their way, she'll be evicted and so will her 8 year old daughter!

Wandsworth know this but want to act tough for their own political gain. They want to make a strong stand for the public limelight. They want to be the first to evict someone.

It's not on. Regardless of how you'd like to punish the rioters, why on earth should you punish their innocent family?

Join with me in telling Wandsworth that it's not on. Punish the guilty, leave the innocent alone.

      Robert Davidson
      Petition Organizer

It seems that much of the law covering eviction of tenants is 'discretionary'. i.e. what is a nuisance, and how likely is it to continue and what counts as the 'locality' of the housing scheme. Some Conservative want any crime to result in eviction.

This is WRONG!! Our prime minister, Nick clegg Boris Johnson and probably many other MPs when they were younger were involved in drunken crimes INCLUDING ARSON, SMASHING UP TOILETS and SETTING FIRE TO THEM. Were any of them convicted?? Nick Clegg was even underage drinking when he commited arson..??? Whats the diffrerence between THEM and these people??

Local Council officials take the path of least resistance in attempting to solve problems, They do not consider the consequences of their actions because they are not adequately held to account.

I do not condone mindless looting and destruction, but am angry when the wrong people are victimised to pay for other's wrongdoings.

This is completely inhumane and unjust. It may well also be illegal, and if not, should be.
