Walton County Board of County Commissioners: Open the Coastal Branch Library on Saturdays

So people who work Monday - Friday and students have an opportunity to use the library.  Especially important for working parents who want to bring their children to the library.  Saturdays are the only days they have that opportunity.  While the Monday night evening hours may be helpful for older children; young children need to be in bed early and there is no enough time after 5 p.m. and before bedtime.

To:
Cindy Meadows, Commissioner
Kenneth Pridgen, Chair, Board of County Commissioners
Bill Imfeld, Commissioner
Sara Comander, Commissioner
Glenda Wood, Citizen
We are requesting that you reconsider opening the Coastal Branch Library on Saturdays so that people who work Monday - Friday and students may use the library.

Sincerely,
[Your name]

I love using the library and moved from Atlanta where they are open Saturday and Sunday - I work 8-5pm Mon-Fri and am unable to make it to the library - so sad

Our children need to be introduced to our library...how can we nurture their learning to love books if library is closed on Saturday?

I work Mon to Fri. Saturday was the best day for me to go to the Library. Books on CD kept me company in my home office.

I was a Walton County resident from 2005 until May of this year. The closing of the library put a considerable burden on my family during the last 2 years of my daughter's high school experience. We ended up going into Destin to the bookstore to buy necessary books required for her AP English classes on Florida virtual school because the library wasn't available. Instead of she and I going to the library on Saturdays and spending a couple of hours there, we made the journey into Destin to Barnes & Noble. We now live there. The Freeport Library has so little books and videos - we went a couple of times and just gave up. I still work in Walton County. Please do what's right for the citizens on the south end of the bridge and open the library on Saturdays.
