Our libraries are an essential service to the people of Walker County, and the Rossville Library serves over 40,000 of our county residents. Our Sole Commissioner should step-up on the behalf of her constituents, and give a one-time gift of $12,000 from the county budget to supplement their city budget cuts to keep the library open regular hours. Commissioner Heiskell, it's unreasonable that you've asked taxpayers to donate to the library when your efforts and county assets are diverted into other non-essential projects that only serve the very few.

Libraries affect, and are more important, far Walker county citizens than Mt. Cove and/or walking trails.

I have two young children that are currently learning to read due to numerous visits to this library and it also provides a good social outlet for my kids since they are not school age and do not go to daycare

Libraries have always been an important part of my life, expanding my horizons since I was 5 years old. Keeping the library open during the hours patrons would use it is essential to the quality of life in Walker County. A loss of these services makes our county much less inviting for new residents, new business, and visitors.

If kids are going to learn to love learning for life, they need access to books at all ages!
