The Student Senate Finance Committee voted to CUT ALL FUNDING to The Willow Domestic Violence Center! They also voted to CUT ALL FUNDING to GaDuGi SafeCenter, Headquarters Counseling Center, and the Douglas County AIDS Project (DCAP) after one year!   These organizations provide critically needed services to KU students such as sexual assault/rape advocacy, emergency services to survivors of domestic violence, suicide intervention, HIV/AIDS testing and counseling, and many more.   We cannot turn our backs on our fellow Jayhawks who are in need or have suffered harm.  We must support these services to protect, educate, and improve our community at KU. Don't let our silent victims and survivors be ignored! Stand up and sign to protect services for every Jayhawk!

As a KU alum, mother of a KU student, social worker in the Lawrence community and former E.D. of DCAP I'm appalled that Student Senate wants to eliminate their support of these vital organizations that have provided services to KU students, faculty & staff for many years. I completely understand that the economy is tough and would I like to pay less for my daughter to attend KU - sure, but at what expense??? I like Mara W's comment - "a little from each one of us can help a lot" Please think about the long term good for the university community and not the short term needs of the Student Senate budget.

I am an alum of KU 2009 and also a former volunteer at Headquarters. These services provide the necessary support to students who fall in an age group that is more susceptible to mental disorders and depression. Please do not cut funding for these valuable programs!

As a former Jayhawk, I know how great and necessary this service is. I know budgets are tight, but KU needs this!

HCC was there for me when I needed it. I hope those on the Student Senate who vote against funding it never need HCC services or know anyone who does. And, even if you don't need it, shame on you for not providing for those who do!

As a volunteer at HQCC, I've heard countless testimonies of the good we do for those in crisis throughout Douglas County and surrounding areas. Please support this incredible organization!
