Operate TRAX trains until 2:30 am every morning.

    1. Petition by

      Kaitlynne Gibson

      Salt Lake City

Since most bars in Salt Lake City are open until 1 or 2 AM, it would only make sense to have a safe form of transportation for those that have been out drinking or working. It really doesn't make sense for the public transportation system to stop running before midnight. These extended hours could help lower the amount of drunk drivers on the road, intoxicated people walking the street, and the large chunks of cash people have to pay in order to get a cab home. Not only would this help reduce all of these issues, but it would also create new jobs (late night TRAX and bus drivers, as well as security officers). So realistically, why wouldn't everyone want public transportation in Salt Lake City to run later? It only makes sense for everyone to have a safe way to get home at night!!!

Also- along with signing this petition, it wouldn't hurt to place a friendly phone call to UTA expressing your opinion: Salt Lake: 801-287-2667.

UTA offered late night TRAX service for many years but found that it was underutilized. For more details on the history of late night service and why UTA decided to discontinue the service visit http://www.letsrideuta.com/2012/10/16/late-...

Use the trax all the time. Wish busses ran late too. Been stranded because of train not running longer.

It would be so much better to ride TRAX home after going to a bar, rather than the pain of finding a ride or paying for a cab.

I will be moving out to Salt Lake City soon and right now I work at the Salt Lake City International Airport. I would be able to ride trax to work but usually I get off work at 1:30 am. If trax was still open I would be able to save a ton of money on gas and parking.

It is important for me because I am am student at the University and I need to be able to study late. My commute is 2 hours (bus & trax).

Safe and available transportation cuts down on both drunk driving and pollution.
