October 2013

From Petition Organizer: We hit the social media hard and the local news picked up the story which lead to massive media coverage. We got 10,000 signatures within 24 hours. The person we petitioned was bombarded with emails from this petition and he immediately held a new conference. The power of people in large numbers.

My letter to Woody Wilson...

The dog we know in the Shreveport-Bossier animal rescue community named BRAVEHEART needs to be released from Caddo Animal Control and placed back with his foster family who has loved and taken care of him.

He was taken out of foster care where he was recovering mentally and physically from animal abuse when he was found in a Storage Unit left chained to a object to DIE.

By putting him in CADDO ANIMAL CONTROL and held as EVIDENCE in this cruelty case may cause him to catch an illness he isn't strong enough to survive regardless of being in ISOLATION.

I have asked all my friends to contact YOU...OUR Caddo Parish ADMIN in order to voice outrage....

Dr. Woody Wilson you are the one that the Caddo Animal Control answers to.

Braveheart needs us..he has had 24 hr care and now is in dire straits.
PLEASE PLEASE help.....let him go back to his foster family Ronda and Bo Spataro....

Woody Wilson, Caddo Parish Administrator
Thank you for doing the right thing and returning him to his foster family.
And thank you for arresting the persons responsible for this cruelty.

This was so important, the administrator did the right thing. Happy for this dog and his family! Thank you to those who cared for Braveheart all the way through. He's now with those who love him and being shown love and proper care. So glad for this outcome! My faith is somewhat restored in humanity. But now, laws need drastic change ... may we all work as passionately as we did for Braveheart, to get laws improved so there is less animal cruelty and shelters are emptied now but not by killing of our dogs and cats. Harsher punishment for animal abusers, and very limited breeding is urgently needed. Please; it CAN be done, then we won't be failing these animals each day. Let's Do It!!! I pledge. <3

I am so happy he is back with the people that love him. I called yesterday and talked with a woman at the shelter. I asked her a million questions and demanded answers as to why this dog was not with the people that wanted him. I asked her if she was aware of the petition and that it had reached almost 5,000 signatures. I told her that keeping the dog until the owner could be found (the owner that had done this to the poor dog) did not make good sense. I begged and demanded that she give this dog immediately back to the people that want him and love him. Let's just say she was very annoyed with me by the time we hung up. Getting the email this morning that he was released has made my day. Thank goodness for Change.org and all the wonderful caring people that signed this petition. James I hope Braveheart gets better real soon.

Our voices were heard today. Not for ourselves but for the innocent and voiceless that only crime was, they were born. Our animals whether afar in nature or on the couch snuggled up to us give to us more than we ask in a tangible unconditional living in the moment love and comfort. I hope you see the plight and commitment our community has grown in demanding animal rights. With the events of the past 24 hours I hope you see this as an opportunity to leave a legacy of your leadership with our community as the first "NO KILL" SHELTER of the highest standards and noble commitment to continue as a leader for the state of Louisiana and the nation to follow as our future into "NO KILL". This is a fact that the movement for a "NO KILL" is indeed growing and passionately persued in which we will not stop, we will not give up, we will not falter we will only succeed because we will not accept anything less than a "NO KILL SHELTER". I hope to see an opening of spirit and mind with you Mr Wilson as our leader to our goal of a "NO KILL" community. You are the leader; you are where the buck stops for reform. You can make this what you want for your life and legacy with honor and commitment. Bravehearts plight is the sign that the public your community has had their fill of death and cruelty to our pets/animals... in saying the euthanisia is cruelty to a healthy adoptable dog or cat. I hope and pray with all of my heart and tears that you truly undestand we the animal lovers have only begun and you can ride the wave of our success or you can fight us....I truly hope you choose the path that you know is right in your heart and soul. We are all in this together as rescuers...it takes the community to save the community. Thank you and most sincerely, Mary Hall
