My Droid X is a fantastic phone that has plenty of life if stripped of bloatware and modified with improved ROM tailored for h ow I use the phone, the basic tenet of Android. If I brick it, its my problem, but I want the freedom to do just that. I am up for new phones this summer and needless to say if my Droid X is not unlocked; HTC or Samsung will get my business from here on out.

It'd be nice to actually modify the hardware that I bought and extend the usefulness of my phone so that I don't have to drop half a grand on a phone with ICS, because you won't support the model I bought two years ago.

This device is no longer being sold or updated, but the general community could improve this. Put out of warranty (we all are anyways) but let us work on the software.
