Please remove Chick-Fil-A from the SAC

      Louisville, KY

Chick-fil-A currently serves thousands of students a year at the University of Louisville.
However, the company has consistently funded groups that fight against LGBT Equality.
Chick-fil-A has donated over $5 million dollars to anti-gay organizations between 2003 - 2010,that money has supported groups such as Focus On The Family, Exodus International, and the Family Research Council. Not to mention the CEO going public admitting all of this.

On the University of Louisville campus Chick-Fil-A is located on the 2nd floor of the Swain Student Activities Center (SAC).. Note from the vendor Sodexo: “Students at the University of Louisville on mandatory meal plans are contributing to the Chick-fil-A Corporation only if they use their meal plan monies to purchase products offered by Chick-fil-A. Students on mandatory meal plans who use their meal plan monies at any other dining venue on campus would not be supporting Chick-fil-A.”SO STUDENTS IF YOU DONT WANT TO SUPPORT CHICK-FIL-A DO NOT USE YOUR MEAL CARD THERE.

As a campus that supports diversity and inclusion. The University of Louisville, it's faculty, staff, and students should not be funding a company that supports anti-equality measures.
Removing this restaurant from the SAC will send a strong message that the University of
Louisville stands up for the rights of all their students, faculty, and staff.

I am proud to be a student of the University of Louisville especially for their progressive views concering the environment and the charitable work throughout the community regardless of race, gender, religion, or sexual orientation and I feel that continuing to have this restaurant on campus even in the limited capacity that it already is undermines the very vaules of the university. Gay rights are human rights and the university should not support a group that is openly against human rights, especially with tuition money which comes from the the federal and state government that most of us students receive in order to attend UofL.

All are welcome to sign, but if you are a student, alumni, or faculty member please sign below with your actual name and why you are signing

Thank you and Go CARDS!

In the past week, we have heard from many people regarding statements by the Chick-fil-A president. We have met with and listened to students, faculty and staff, some of whom supported the statement, some of whom were offended and hurt.
UofL is an institution that treasures diversity. Our strength is in the experiences and values we share with those who may be different from us.
We also are a university that steadfastly supports free speech – even if that speech goes against our values. We respect an individual’s right to disagree. We respect an individual’s right to choose where they spend their money.
After conversations with Mr. Cathy and others in our campus community, the University of Louisville is taking no action.
We as a university will continue to stand for diversity and to celebrate our differences.

Join the Office for LGBT Services and Provost Shirley Willihnganz this Wednesday at noon for an informal dialogue about the university’s response to Chick-fil-A. On a campus where the diversity vision statement includes LGBT people and also affirms freedom of speech and thought, what factors must be considered when considering the proper action to take? In this informal gathering, Provost Willihnganz will listen to concerns and answer questions.

Over 1k signatures! Also in case you didnt see on WHAS, UofL did a press release and it states the following : “This university has been consistently supportive of our LGBT community, and like them, we find the statement made by Chick-fil-A’s president to be offensive and unnecessary. Those statements violate every stand that we have taken to protect the rights and affirm the value of every person. Those comments explicitly work against the efforts we have made, and will continue to make, to ensure that this is a welcoming and tolerant campus.
We are currently in conversation with our food vendor service, Sodexo, to understand the contractual arrangements Sodexo has with Chick-fil-A as well as the larger implications of any actions. We will inform you of decisions once we have weighed all of the facts and our potential courses of action. But, in the meantime, the president and the provost will not be eating at Chick-fil-A anytime soon.”

Again thank you for your support!!

I was interviewed today on WHAS 11 I was shown on the noon telecast and was told it would be shown throughout the day. If you have a pro/con opinion in regards to the issue contact them they would love to talk to you. Also I hope I got my point across on tv Im a way better writer than public speaker! Also if you dont see the telecast the University is in meetings today in regards to this very issue so bringing this to light can expedite the process. Keep it going people! You all are wonderful.
Also there is a lot of talk on Facebook in the WHAS thread that is stating the CEO has his right to say what he wants and such. He does but when the restaurant is in an institution that receives federal and state $ and does not coincide with the values the university proclaims then it needs to go. Go over and state your opinion on this issue also.. Thanks again!! 3/4 of the way to the goal!
