Stop airing sexist commercials and apologize

You may have seen a commercial on your television for Klondike bars. A man has to listen to his wife for a whole five seconds. He struggles through with a look of extreme pain on his face, then celebrates wildly once the five seconds are over.

This extremely sexist commercial perpetuates stereotypes that harm men, women, and the concept of long-term relationships and marriage. It suggests that women have nothing important to say, that men are uncaring thugs that only care about junk food, and that marriage/relationships are a painful struggle for everyone involved.

We want this commercial completely removed. We also want to see a formal apology for sending out this harmful advertisement.

      Thank you for contacting us.
We do apologize for the experience you reported concerning our Klondike Mint Chocolate Chip Bars.
You may be interested to know that all of our commercials and advertisements are pre-tested and various techniques are used to evaluate consumer reactions. Based on the results of our pre-testing procedures, the presentations are chosen for their majority appeal.
We certainly do not wish to offend anyone. In developing product messages, Unilever and its agencies may not always anticipate all possible implications of an advertisement or television commercial.
We have a long history of presenting "tasteful" advertising to the public. Our ads must be informative and truthful. The agencies creating our advertising adhere strictly to these guidelines.
Please let us assure you that your comments are extremely important to us in evaluating the success of our commercials and advertisements.

I hate that this is even an issue. Stop pitting the sexes against one another and maybe something beautiful just might happen.

This commercial is extremely sexist. It would be significantly less horrible without the ending 5 seconds of the girls making sexualized faces in front of the camera and him shouting how proud he was that he did something so meaningless and futile.
