This is public information that needs to be given to families/public so that they can make the best decisions on where to take their complex children for care. There needs to be transparency especially to parents of these children. This does not interact with HIPAA and is the publics right to know these facts to make informed decisions for the well being of their children. You can find stories on this below.

Ceo is Dr. Michael Karpf and you may also find more on WUKY that lead to this petition.

Also, we need these rates to be broken down by surgical type, norwood, cath, arterial switch etc. So the public knows if this is the proper institution to care for their childs needs, no matter the CHD.

To:
Dr. Michael Karpf, Executive Vice President for Health Affairs and UK healthcare.
Make public mortality rate ped cardiothoracic surgery 2010,2011,1012. The rates need to be broken down in an easier to understand manner, such as rates for norwood procedure, arterial switch, ASD closing etc. So that parents can make an informed decision as to if this institution can care for their childs specific type of CHD. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Any one who has ever raised children realizes that in order to make a informed decision you need all the information that is available. And especially in this situation where you are talking about babies with congenital heart defects. If in fact Ky Children's Hospital has higher mortality rates than other hospitals for the same procedures then something is very wrong with this program. These parents deserve the answer to their question. As a concerned citizen, I too would like to know exactly what happened to these five innocent babies.
