Keep the government from shutting down

Shutting down the federal government because of ideology is the height of irresponsibility.  We elected our Senators and Representatives because we trusted them to put the interests of the country before self.  By threatening to not fund the government, they are violating that trust.

We are tired of the acrimony on Capitol Hill and pledge that we will work tirelessly to replace each and every Congressperson who is responsible for a government shutdown, should one happen.  Urge them to stop playing games with the economy and our children's future and do the right thing.  Urge them to do their job and govern!

Last year, you signed my petition urging Congress to not shut down. Thank you to every one who joined me in speaking up and telling our elected representatives that we sent them to Washington to get something done, not to play the game of blame and obfuscation.

Unfortunately, not much has changed. Congress kicked the can down the road, but there is still no real indication that after this election that they will actually start working together for the betterment of their constituents.

The gridlock we've seen in Washington is becoming more and more prevalent in state legislatures. It has to stop. We deserve better, and I have decided to do something about it.

I have declared my candidacy for the Virginia House of Delegates in 2015 (we elect state offices in odd years). I'm not naive enough to think that as a new Delegate, I will completely change the dynamic of the Virginia General Assembly, but change must begin somewhere. I want to be a part of that change and work with the leadership of both parties and show that politics is the art of the possible.

The road to victory will be challenging, but not impossible. The incumbent I wish to unseat has been in office since 1992 and is one of the original cultural warriors. He is more interested in furthering a social agenda of exclusion and fear than governing. After more than 20 years of failed leadership, he chairs no committees (he's the 6th most senior Delegate) and our district is gripped by rush-hour gridlock that gets worse every year. It's time for him to go.

Because of your support for my petition, I am asking you to join me again in saying enough is enough. I'm sure you're being inundated by fundraising emails for this year's election, so this will be my only appeal to you. A small contribution of $20.15 will go a long way in our campaign. I have set up a fundraising page at: Thank you for your consideration and I very much appreciate your support.

If you'd like to keep up with the campaign, feel free to "like" our Facebook page and "follow" us on Twitter

Thank you again in advance for your support!

It is destroying my business. It feels like we are being controlled by a fanatical, insane, mindless, self-interested, cancerous, group, that must be stopped. They are doing what the terrorist have been dreaming of doing. To my this is treason.

The American people do NOT want or approve of a govt. shutdown. We will not back this up. Get your act together or you will no longer be allowed to represent the American people! It is childish and ineffective. Impeachment is definitely an option for anybody who directly hinders our govt from functioning. Use your freedom of speech wisely and your signature/vote even more wisely. We are counting on you. Do not fail us or we will discipline you at the polls. Thanks for reading!

Congress should not be paid for closing down the government.
