In 2008 elections the campaigns for Proposition 8 respectively raised $39.9 million and $43.3 million, including over $20 million from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They became the year's highest-funded campaign on any state ballot and surpassing every campaign in the country in spending.

In September 2012 A Catholic bishop from Springfield, Illinois is warning that the stakes for the 2012 election are even higher than most people think because voting for President Barack Obama could damn "you own soul" to hell.

Mike Huckabee had a dire warning for Christians: When you vote on Nov. 6, hell's fire awaits, and a vote for President Barack Obama will not stand up to the flames.
In a new ad, the former Arkansas governor and ordained Southern Baptist minister warns Christians that their votes "will affect the future and be recorded in eternity" and they must cast a ballot that will "stand the test of fire." The video, entitled "Test of Fire," features symbolic fiery imagery and is narrated by Huckabee.

The "Test of Fire" ad is connected to Value Voters USA, an organization of Christian and nondenominational citizens who believe it's important to vote based on life, family and faith this November, according to Politico.

Huckabee does not mention Mitt Romney by name in the ad, but he has publicly endorsed the Republican candidate. His conservative views on marriage, abortion and contraception mandates did not sit well with some.

In the 2012 elections, I heard from many of my Christian friends that their Pastor or Priest told them to vote for someone who has deep “Christian values” I am not opposing that they should not enter the realm of politics but if they want to get into politics then they should be taxed as a political organization and not be labeled as a non-profit organization. I think this idea of taxing the religious organizations will help the economy, if they call themselves the true patriots of this country and if they do care for the wellbeing of this nation then let them do their part by paying taxes like everybody else. Please sign this in favor that Government should tax all religious organizations.

Thank You.

If religious organizations want to use money from their flock to back political candidates or legislature I do not see how this can be seen as charity. They can't have it both ways

Keep church and state separate- this is a clear violation

The rule of religion is over. They have been stealing money from the masses for hundreds of years. Time to end it and get our country out of debt and tear down the temples.

I find this incredibly offensive, particularly living in MD, where I had to endure months & months of preachers on television, & every where for that matter, talk about why same sex marriage had to be voted down b/c it was immoral.
