Tumblr is known for being racist, extremely rude, and not very skillful in their job. They can fix small technical bugs, but as far as matters that really effect the users they ignore. They let harassment happen, suspend accounts without fully researching claims, or even a warning. This has got to stop.

8/15/2012 - I've recently as well as others, had my original artwork taken down at the will of another UNLAWFULLY. For months this has been happening and Tumblr has not done anything. They have not researched claims to find they are truly false, they mindlessly go with whatever someone says. I've had simple text posts taken down. This is violation of my right of free speech, the first amendment.

Despite the glaring grammatical errors in the message by Ash the sentiment is what matters and what I agree with. The internet should be a place of learning, free expression, creativity, inspiration, community and connection and tumblr has the potential to be all of these things but the choice of staff holds the site back.

I've been harassed for years on tumblr, and yet despite my pleas and proof, they refuse to do anything about it

I had a blog that was a parody of the magazine cosmopolitian , I had 40,000 followers. They shut me down due to " impersonation" yet they say directly in the the terms of service that we CAN make parody blogs. I email them every day and yet they never respond because they are too embarrassed to admit they were wrong. Fuck them

Blogs that have continuously abused, and even threatened the lives of, other users, are allowed to continue to run, while those that showcase artwork (with included sources!) are regularly terminated. In what way does this make sense? Several blogs continue to use racism, and hateful language (that can be severely detrimental to their targets' emotional and mental health) are still running, and very, very rarely given anything more than a slap on the wrist. They get a message, and are allowed to continue on, under the guise of "self expression via speech". No. When someone sends a report, for a blog that is actively aiming to hurt a group of people, it should be terminated. Immediately. A warning message will not do a single damn thing. In fact, I've seen it make them even more determined to continue their ways. Tumblr needs to either enforce a proper sense of protection, for its users, or get a new bloody staff.
