Stop the violence

My daughter Mikayla used to love going to school, going to class and seeing her friends.

But then the bullying began. She started coming home from school upset, sometimes in tears. Like any parent, I was distraught. I spoke to the principal of Toormina High, and she told me that the school was already doing everything it could. But it kept getting worse, until it got so bad we decided to transfer her.

But the bullying is still going on at Toormina High. The Police have been called in more than once, and another parent just told me that his daughter was cornered after school by adult relatives of school kids, who threatened to physically hurt her.

Neither the school nor the Department of Education has done enough to stop this appalling violence, or ensure that people who commit assault have to answer to the full legal consequences of their actions.

Toormina High needs to take this seriously, and introduce mediation and compulsory counselling for bullies before any more kids are hurt. The Department of Education also needs to implement better policies to educate our kids in basic empathy, and how to relate to others. Please sign the petition, and help stop the violence.

My support goes to the children and parents of those who are bullied. To the bullies and parents of bullies - you really need to take a look at yourselves - grow up to be a proper person, or not.

This is vile! Let your daughter know that there are those who support her and that the behavior of these people is absolutely sickening and should be illegal.

I attended a school where bullying was taken too lightly. I was bullied from a young age and eventually I became a bully myself. I was in 10th grade when I realised what I was doing wasn't deffending myself, I was attacking others verbally the same way I was being attacked and was completely horrified.

When Bullying is left unadressed, it doesn't just create a mentally excrutiating environment, but it breeds more bullies who continue the cycle. When bullying becomes physically violent- these kids need more then a suspension, they need charges pressed and manadory counciling.
