Since the Kyoto meeting in 1997, instead of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, we have increased from 24 billion tons per year to 32 billion tons per year. All the meetings since that time have not managed to reduce the emissions and the negative effects on these nations (and eventually all of us) is immense. This lawsuit will likely ensure that nations will work harder and faster to reduce the C02 emissions so that we eventually deal with this global problem seriously.

Living in South Korea, I am much better informed about Asian affairs than most North Americans. So, I am aware that many Pacific Islands are already experiencing serious consequences of global climate change. Citizens around the world must understand that reducing greenhouse gas emissions is the great imperative of our age. We ALL must bear the responsibility for the consequences. Taking immediate action is the best response.
