The Lidsky Family of North Haven need your help to keep their child’s beloved pet bunny.
They have been told that an old ordinance in North Haven says people in town aren't allowed to have rabbits on their property if they're not a certain size. However, it's not the size of the rabbit, but the size of the family's property that has the town of North Haven saying the rabbit must be removed from the Lidsky home.
"I don't want the bunny to go," says Kayden, age 7.
A cease and desist order was issued last month informing the family zoning laws do not allow livestock nor rabbits on lots under two acres."
The family will keep Sandy, a 30 pound Flemish Giant Bunny as they appeal the decision, but if they lose at that level the town attorney says it could trigger a Superior Court action enforcing removal of the animal.
We need to let North Haven know they are wrong and that it is the law that needs changing. Please speak up and show your support that the Lidsky’s get to keep their pet bunny legally! The more voices we raise in protest the more the town will listen.

Hopalonghollow got a call today from the First Selectman of North Haven. He wants it to be known that he is working to remove the "2 acres are needed to have a rabbit" from the active laws of North Haven. There has been such a fuss over the Lidsky bunny issues that he is going to work on getting that law repealed so it cannot ever be used against a famiy and their pet again.. It won't happen overnight but he did want everyone to know that it will be worked on. We have his word that the Lidsky bunny will not be removed but the zoning appeal meeting is not till September 20 so please everyone - we need more signatures on the petition! Things can and do go wrong and we need the signatures just in case. No one will be happier than I to hear that the situation is resolved than the lIdsky's and I but nothing is carved in stone till the Lidsky's have that variance from the Zoning board! Please keep sending people to the petition site.

Everyone should have equal rights to having a pet, especially a pet rabbit if they have been accepted within the family home as a family member.

The law is outdated, the child should have the right to keep the rabbit as a pet.
