Currently, the cap in which beer can be sold in the Great State of Ohio is at 12% ABV. The people of the Great State of Ohio believes that this cap is completely arbitrary. It does not in anyway define a beer. According to the Bavarian Purity Law a beer is such that contains the following 4 ingredients: water, barley, hops and yeast. The Bavarian Purity Law was a much more rational law than placing a cap on ABV. Today, brewers are using all kinds of creative ingredients to create amazing beer. Also, there are alot of brewers who want to brew and sell super high gravity beers in the state of Ohio. This cap on beer is stifling small businesses and hurting Ohio's economy.

Some people in the state are travelling to other states in order to attain beer that is currently not available in Ohio. These beer sales could be helping to stimulate our economy and helping small businesses in our state.

Please consider this proposal to help stimulate Ohio's economy.

Ohio lawmaker plans to seek higher ABV - The Beer Blog - Ohio

State Rep. Dan Ramos, D-Lorain, plans to re-introduce a proposal this year to increase the legal limit on the amount of alcohol allowed in beer sold in Ohio. Right now, the limit is 12 percent alcohol by volume. Ramos' proposal would boost that to 21 percent.

These are some of the best beers that are over 12% that we should be able to get in Ohio but we can't because of an arbitrary law that prohibits us from purchasing these beers here. We need to put a stop to this law.

Please share this with as many people as possible. Twitter, Facebook, Google+. If you believe, like me, that good beer should not be denied to people than you believe that our state of Ohio should not place limits on beer. Remove all limits and redefine what it means to be a beer in our state!!!

This isn't just about the state of Ohio, it's about beer fans all across the country. This may be a small feat for a few fans of craft beer but I think this is a step in the right direction for everybody who enjoy drinking good beer.

We don't want to stifle the definition of beer. We want to increase appreciation of beer.

Send this petition to your Facebook friends, your Twitter and Google+ followers and anybody else who you think might like to be willing to help in this campaign. We need your help!

If I and my friends already travel over an hour and a half to cross state lines to buy these beers, why should Ohio not be profiting from this?

As a connoisseur of great beer, this cap is seriously hindering our state's breweries and their ability to compete with out of state breweries. This law is nonsensical considering other state's law's and the existence of much higher ABV drinks like wines and liquors. It also restricting many world class beers from sale in our state.
