The South Carolina House of Representatives and Senate: Abolish the South Carolina High School League

We the people of the State of South Carolina request that the SCHSL be abolished due to their inability to fairly and reasonably make decisions. No organization should be allowed to punish high school students for mistakes made by adults. This group of individuals has demonstrated in their actions that they don't care about the children of our state and by example have shown that honesty is not the best policy.

Abolish the South Carolina High School League

Sincerely,

    4. Where SCHSL Board members are located

If you look at a map and pen point the counties board members are from only 3 are from the area south of Columbia. Berkeley, Bamburg and Barnwell counties each have one member. The eight following counties have a combined total of 13 members Greenwood, Pickens, Greenville, Anderson, Laurens,Richland,Lexington, and Newberry. York, Lancaster, and Lee counties each have 1 member. Talk about unbalanced representation, aren't there 32 other counties in the state? and why is the majority of power located in one geographical area?

I was a volunteer track coach at West Ashley High School for 5 years, and was one of the founders of the Sandlapper Track Classic. I also was a 3 sport 4-A athlete back in the day. My substantial number of experiences with the SCHSL have always been negative, they always revealed a bias for particular schools, and I've never seen them playing anything but a subversive role in the state's high school sports. It is an oligarchy with too much power and very little purpose. Please abolish them.

Because the recent judgement against goose creek high school was the biggest joke of a decision I have seen in my life. After other schools with actual violations ( Summerville , Byrnes) were allowed to participate in the playoffs after KNOWINGLY CHEATING and goose creek could have simply hide the fact they had. A THIRD STRING Ineligible player that once the facts came out we self reported and still wasn't allowed to defend OUR. State title so much for doing the right thing

SCHSL has punished children for the actions of adults. The seniors of GCHS will never get the chance to take back their senior year playing football for the Gators. We strive to teach our children "honesty is the best policy" and to have integrity to do the right thing is always the best way to behave, yet SCHSL has punished the children for something they had no control over. Both the principal and coach did the right thing not only helping a child in need by making him feel part of the community, but by self reporting an error made on his transcripts. The error was not GCHS's doing. This organization is not well represented by the low county. This organization had already made up their minds before the hearings. Wrong wrong wrong!

"Honesty is the best policy"...so why should one be punished when they found an honest, human mistake! Please do not teach our young to be dishonest, this would be such a misfortune. Promote honesty and the well being of our young.
