Washington has paired with the Tampa VA in Fl. to start a pilot program to supply Medical Service Dogs to Veterans who suffer from PTSD. Guardian Angels is the leader in the program and has paired nearly a dozen Service Dogs to Veterans with a 100% sucess rate, while there are two other organizations in the program one of who has paired two dogs with a 100% failure and the other has paired 4 dogs with a 50% failure. They have put all the organizations on an indefinite hold. There are about 60 other Veterans who have been approved to recieve Service Dogs. Lift the hold from Guardian Angels so they can continure with the great service they are providing to our Veterans.

my husband returned in November and has told more people than I can count that our puppy (who was not even service trained) was who got him through some of the early phases of his PTSD when I would have to leave for work. If a puppy with no training could do that, I can only imagine what we could train these dogs to do to help these soldiers.

As a Vietnam Veteran, a vital program like "Guardian Angels", with a proven success record, should be available for the treatment of PTSD and Post Combat Stress Disorder. ..."PCSD stems from the intentional, constant threat of, and employment of deadly enemy force and evolves by consistently overcoming said threats and actions by performing bravely and admirably in battle effectively engaging the enemy (i.e. killing, wounding, capturing, causing them to surrender and/or retreat) despite the associated, natural worries. It is not caused by fear! Fear is suppressed and ignored!"... Peter S. Griffin

There should be a different criteria for evaluating the two types. PCSD is the most severe. My Comrade Wyman Helms, suffers from PCSD. It is good to know that Wyman continues the "Tiger Force" spirt with helping other Vietnam Veterans.
