Maricopa County Sheriff Joseph Arpaio has a long history of abuse of authority, violations of civil rights, and misuse of taxpayer funds. Shortly after he first took office in the early 1990s, his pattern of abhorrent activity began to emerge. Under his direction, unconvicted inmates have been tortured and lost their lives. He has misused more than $100 million from a special tax fund for jail construction; a four year investigation into practices at his jails has determined that he has established patterns and practices of unconstitutional policing.

Read the 22-page DOJ report at:
http://www.justice.gov/crt/about/spl/documents/mcso_findletter_12-15-11.pdf

Joseph Arpaio has violated the US Constitution and the civil rights of hundreds, if not thousands of American citizens.

He has made it very clear that he has NO INTENTION of correcting his unlawful practices willingly.

Time is of the essence.

Call on United States Attorney General Eric Holder to BRING THIS CASE TO TRIAL.

(The most salient 8 minutes of the video, Paul Charlton's remarks, begin about 21 minutes into the clip. It should be available to fast forward to that point).

The Arizona Republic perhaps misses the point made by Charlton, Romley, Gordon and Goddard, but it at least provides a link to the letter these four men sent to Attorney General Eric Holder.

Their ultimate point to Holder can really be boiled down to the vernacular, "s*it or get off the pot."

Please share this with your friends and ask them to sign the petition.

Time to evolve. The cruelty and barbarous nature of the bully behavior exhibited by this adult / child who brings nothing but shame to the uniform needs to be stopped. While we're at it.. how about instituting a national mandate that all law enforcement officers be required to remain physically and mentally fit by requiring them to re-qualify on all physical standards at least once and preferably twice a year; instead of just the one time they make it through the academy. Disgustingly obese and out of shape law-enforcement does nothing but showcase the stereotypical southern redneck boss hog sheriff - who often assumes the role that the poor example of the law enforcement community has - that of a bully with a badge. His malicious acts against humanity should be punished and done so in broad display of the public eye.

I personally represented a person jailed for clapping at a public meeting. Judge found defendants innocent, said sheriff's deputy "should be ashamed!" I agree.
