Initial Success Or Total Failure the pinnacle statement and belief of Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technicians of every branch and rank. Many of our fallen comrades have lived by this motto. We believe in paving the way for future generations by learning from the mistakes and accomplishments of Techs who have fallen and come before us. By taking this motto away you undermine the integrity of what has been the driving force behind all successful EOD operations world wide. We as techs understand the grave dangers we are exposed to each day. This motto is what we live by. It is this motto that drives us towards making the world a safer and better place for those who come after us. This is more than a motto it is a teaching point for our young techs. Do not let the fallen be undermined by this disgusting disregard for what EOD is about.

The motto is older that most people complaining about it. The motto is a motivator more EOD personel to train and perform at 100%.

I've been EOD for almost 25 years and the motto has a special meaning to me. I do not see it as an indication of failure in any respect, but it is a constant reminder of the dangers we face and it keeps safety in the foremost of our minds.
