On July 20th, 1969 the whole world witnessed one of the most amazing feats in human history. For the first time, we set foot on another world. Help preserve that day.

These people are heroes to the world. Don't let them be forgotten as time passes by.

The moon landings are one of the singular most inspiring achievements of humankind. The first landing was the only positive event for which everyone who saw it remembered where they were and what they were doing when it happened. I hope that I live to see the day when humans will once again follow our wanderlust out of low earth orbit to put a person and the dreams of our species onto a second extra terrestrial body. Not because of what it will bring us - although the benefits will be great - nor for the national (or hopefully, international) pride and friendship it will foster - although it will be immeasurable - but because we are a species of adventurers, it is our nature, and we can do it - in peace for all mankind.

I support the petition to commemorate nationally the 'giant leap' for mankind.

Doing something that no human being had ever done before and setting the stage for future missions to other worlds is something that I view as very important. The reason we have a Columbus Day is because our species were explorers. It is written in our DNA to be explorers of the universe, and with the one small step that happened on July 20th, 1969 gave us a giant leap for mankind in many many ways. There are so many people I know that don't know when this historic achievement took place. Lets make this a holiday to be recognized on a national level!
