Stevie Hernandez: The president commuted his sentence on the 19th of December!

Jason is serving a life sentence(without the possibility of parole) in federal prison, for a non-violent drug offense. He is a first time offender, and was 21 years old at the time of his arrest. He is now 14 plus years into his sentence. Although Jason Hernandez is guilty of a drug crime, Life without the possibility of parole is to harsh of a sentence. He has served all of his prison sentence without any infractions and has seen his child grow into a teenager, as well as seeing his parents age before his eyes. There is no justice in such a harsh sentence and is now appealing to the president for a lesser term which ill give hi a second chance at life! As of now Jason will die in prison, unless the president or congress change the laws which unjustly sentence first time non-violent offenders to Life in prison.

I am signing because i think a non violent offender should get a second chance. my brother self surrendered to federal prison 6 weeks ago for a 27 month sentence, wire fraud. i feel like i am also serving the sentence. i can only imagine this family has gone through. federal laws need to be looked at and changed.

I'm signing because I hope that someday this won't happen. Families keep getting ripped apart for something harmless.

I am signing because our laws are too rigid and do not take into consideration of specific situations or options to incarceration. We have not looked at options to "War on drugs" in this country and only focus on punishment.
