The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations (MOF) : Stop the proposals for clearcut logging on Gambier Island

      Mission, Canada

Gambier Island is a integral part of Howe Sound which is between Vancouver and Whistler. The Government of British Columbia has vastly increased clear cutting for raw log exports over the last decade and as one of the most beautiful areas on BC's West Coast the proposal to clear cut on this island demands a response on the part of citizens who are concerned about deforestation and climate change. I ask you to please sign this petition and if you have a moment to send a quick letter to the Minister of Forests - FLNR.Minister@gov.bc.ca

Preserving BCs coastal beauty - this is what people come from all over the world to see. We live in an area blessed with natural beauty and nature. Wise use off resources needs to be promoted.

The problems we face today, violent conflicts, destruction of nature, poverty, hunger and so on, are human-created problems which can be resolved through human effort, understanding and the development of a sense of brotherhood and sisterhood. We need to cultivate a universal responsibility for one another and the planet we share.

It may seem as though it does - but this land doesn't belong to our government. It belongs to our children, and their future. Their are sustainable logging sites all over the province. Live this area alone.

My sister-in-law owns a retirement home on the island that we care for. The wilderness of Gambier needs to be protected not exploited!
