Destruction of Trees from the land of the Nassar Family

The Nassar Family has been in a legal battle to protect its land and trees for many years.

A short while ago the Military Authorities placed a warning on the land of the Nassar Family declaring that the trees were planted on "State Land" and therefore constituted a trespass and should be "evacuated" !

On 12.5.2014 the Nassar Family filed an appeal with the Military Court against the order and clarified that the land was not State Land and that the trees were planted on the family land. Furthermore they clarified that the Supreme Court had declared that the Nassar Family should continue with the "re-registration" process of their land. The Nassar Family has being trying to complete the process for years  - however the Israel Military Land Registrar has been delaying the process endlessly without any explanation. Israeli bulldozers came to the fertile valley of the farm where fruit trees had been planted 10 years ago, and destroyed the terraces and all the trees there. More than 1500 apricot and apple trees as well as grape plants were smashed and destroyed.

According to the law no demolition or evacuation is allowed once an appeal is filed and until a final verdict. In spite of the fact that an appeal was filed on 12.5.2014, and no verdict has been issued the Military Authorities rushed to destroy the land and uproot all of the trees on 19.5.2014 !

This action is illegal even according to the draconian military laws in place.

The Nassar Family have been advised to file a case demanding compensation for the illegal actions of the Military Authorities.

To:
The Israeli Government and Military
Benyamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister
Compensate and replace the trees destroyed by the military on the Nasser Family land

Sincerely,
[Your name]

The petition now has over 4500 signatures, but you can still add your name to it.

Media Coverage - In the past few weeks there has been a huge amount of discussion about the Tent of Nations online and the story has also been picked up by the media. Here are a few articles recently published:

•The BBC featured Tent of Nations in an article http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-27883685
•The Israeli Newspaper Haaretz published an article http://www.haaretz.com/news/features/.premium-1.598272
      •An article in +972 Magazine http://972mag.com/photos-israeli-authorities-destroy-palestinian-familys-valley-of-fruit-trees/91701/

Parliament - Thanks to those of you who have signed the petition or written to your MP. So far 3 parliamentary questions have been asked about the Tent of Nations by Caroline Lucas, Baroness Tonge and Roger Godsiff.

So far the responses from the foreign office to the parliamentary questions have been vague, so it would be good to press them further. Contact details for politicans are on http://www.theyworkforyou.com/ and the most relevant ministers to contact are:
•Hugh Robertson MP has recently visited Israel & the Palestinian territories (see his twitter feed https://twitter.com/HughRobertsonMP and here https://www.gov.uk/government/world-location-news/hugh-robertson-visits-the-occupied-palestinian-territories). He is the minister responsible for the Middle East and responded to the parliamentary question by Caroline Lucas
•Baroness Warsi who responded to the parliamentary question by Baroness Tonge and is responsible for foreign office matters in the House of Lords.
•You could contact the British Consul in Jerusalem (contact details here https://www.gov.uk/government/world/organisations/british-consulate-general-jerusalem ) and ask them to make a visit to the Tent of Nations to witness the destruction and speak with the Nassar family.

I object to the way the Israely army deliberately break the laws that they are entrusted to uphold. How can nation expect the respect of the world or the blessing of God if they do not behave with integrity.
