Do not allow farm animals to be paraded in the Olympic Stadium in July

The International Olympic Committe must stop plans to parade farm animals in the Olympic Stadium in July 2012, for the purpose of portraying England's green and pleasant land. For most farm animals, life is brown, dark and excreta-covered! The farming industry is heartless, so obviously it's a sham to make it out that the rural scene is all delightful. Clearly, it will be a nightmare for the animals, with all the noise - especially fireworks - which can permanently traumatised them. This is totally unnecessary.

Sadly, we didn't reach our goal of at least 500 signatures, and the opening ceremony is now around the corner. I'm disappointed, but this is the reality of the situation. Thanks to every one who has supported and signed this petition.

There is no justification for subjecting farmed animals to such a stressful carnival-like spectacle. Instead of falsely portraying to the world the idyllic facade of England's pastoral farming why not show the truth, such as the emergence of factory "farms". Or how about bringing out wheelbarrows full of murdered "pit bull types" to demonstrate the genocide that is occurring in the UK due to BSL laws that condemn innocent dogs like Lennox to death simply for the way they look.

If you truly want the world to believe that England loves animals, you will cancel this ill-conceived and cruel proposal for one that does not harm or exploit innocent animals for the sake of perpetuating a myth.

This is giving a completely wrong message to the world. We should be leading the way in looking after animals humanely and encouraging the rest of the world to do so too.

In the hope that it will make a dfifference and that animals will not be part of the tableau of English rural idyllic scene. Animals would be frightened of the noise and anyway, farm animals do not enjoy their lives due to exploitation for milk, separation from their young at a few days' old and then of course, they are slaughtered for food. They are unable to speak for themsleves and we neeed to do this for them and protect their right to enjoy a fear free life, as we would wish for ourselves.

this is just cruel, tormenting animals for show, as a nation of animal lovers we should not be doing this.
