Equal love for all! We demand marriage rights.

    1. Petition by

      Polyamory Action Lobby

For too long has Australia denied people the right to marry the ones they care about. We find this abhorrent. We believe that everyone should be allowed to marry their partners, and that the law should never be a barrier to love.

And that's why we demand nothing less than the full recognition of polyamorous families.

Just because something isn't mainstream or trendy, doesn't mean it's wrong or should be banned. Laws exist to protect the people - who on earth do we think we are protecting by denying gay and polyamorous marriage?

Becuase I think, if it makes people happy, makes them smile, makes them feel more whole, fulfilled, any or all of the above, I dont see why they shouldnt be allowed. Love is Love, no matter the shape or form and they have a right to that. And I wont be one of a number that stand in their way. I've always heard Love can come in may shapes and forms, it shouldn't be accepted as such too.

I am married to the man who I have children with and love him.. but live full time with my wife who forms my poly family .. and I want to be able to marry her when gay marriage is legal as she is in every way my full time partner.

I know this happened months ago but I'm still utterly flummoxed that "The next step, quite frankly, is having three people or four people that love each other being able to enter into a permanent union endorsed by society or any other type of relationship." Was used as an argument against same-sex marriage.

And then today I stumbled upon this one:

"Neither polyandrous nor same-sex 'marriages' are likely to become widespread, but they will further compromise social stability. Think of it this way: A man and a woman join in a permanent relationship, and they with their children form a triangle. Their children grow up and join others to form more triangles. The most stable shape known to geometry, multiple triangles can bear substantial weight and even make up for a certain number of broken shapes within the framework. But when too many triangles break, introducing other shapes into the foundation will only cause it to collapse that much sooner."

Geometry is not a valid argument. As far as I can tell there are no valid arguments against rights for families.
