Thank you so much for your support to save my son from being forced to leave Australia. The reason for this is because he has been diagnosed with mild Autism and will apparently be a ‘financial burden’ on Australian society. It's been a few months since I was in contact - and now things are moving really fast. We are still in Australia - but are just weeks away from being forced to leave the country. Our last option now is for the Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, Peter Dutton to intervene. We are told we have no choice but to travel to the Philippines because my son will be a burden on the health system. But after 8 years living in Australia and working as a nurse, I am invested heavily in my community in Townsville. I truly believe I am investing and giving more than we are asking from Australia. Australia is all that my son Tyrone knows. He has just turned 10 and It will be so traumatic for him to be returned to a country he doesn't know, speaking a language he doesn't understand, and away from all my family support who live in Queensland. After months of going through every process I could find, The Migration Review Tribunal have said the final option for me and Tyrone is to make a submission to the Minister. All that my son knows is Australia and our community here in Townsville. I'm overwhelmed at the support we've had from the public but now we only have until the 27th April to appeal to Mr Dutton. Please share this petition with your friends so that we can have a stronger case and show that Australians care about giving everyone a fair go. PS. There has been a lot of media attention from The Project; Sydney Morning Herald; news.com.au and the ABC (to name a few). Please share the Sydney Morning Herald article on social media to help us gather more support to show the Minister! http://www.smh.com.au/queensland/autism-could-see-10yearold-boy-deported-20150403-1mdv2q.html
