Meredith Felton is a woman in danger. Despite multiple calls to the police, the DA's Office and hiring a lawyer, Meredith has been physically abused by her husband, most recently with a hammer. After Meredith was seen at the hospital and treated for her injuries, which included damage to her throat from the claw end of said hammer, the police were waiting to arrest her for misuse of the 911 system.

The DA's office refuses to prosecute unless the detective in charge of Meredith's case signs off on the complaint, and he refuses to sign, claiming to believe Meredith to be falsifying information up to and including injuring herself so severely that she needs crutches and hospitalization. During her time in jail, Meredith was denied her crutches and her pain medication, leaving her in agony during her confinement.

We cannot allow this abuse to continue. The abuse of Meredith, who has seen escalating violence against her since she separated from her husband, and the abuse of our legal system that is somehow, against all sense, sheltering her abuser.

Because she needs mental health services either way. If her husband is the perpetrator, they can (hopefully) keep her safe and treat her PTSD. If she is truly injuring herself it should become obvious when she is out of the reach of the reported abuser and under the supervision of inpatient mental health providers. DO NOT LET HIM VISIT and DO NOT LET HIM ABSCOND WITH THE CHILDREN. If this detective is wrong, Meredith may end up dead. Seperation is the most likely time for women to get hurt.

Because I HATE corruption and those who abuse their power. If this is their definition of "to protect and serve" then they need to be ousted! What this woman suffered at the hands of her attacker was horrific, what she suffered at the hands of the so-called "law" was despicable. Do something that proves you are on the side of true justice.

I view this case with horror from across the Atlantic. Please do something to prove to the world that you are still a civilised nation because many around the world are having serious doubts about that.
