Recently, Lift Line, the Paratransit agency of the Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority (RGRTA), redrew their service map, eliminating regular service to the town of Ogden , NY, citing lack of ridership. Service to all the towns surrounding Ogden has remained intact, thus creating a “doughnut” where a number of people with disabilities are left without an appropriate way of getting to work, doctor appointments and participating in society as others expect to be able to. RGRTA is a public authority. Their number one focus should be on the public good and not the bottom line. While fiscal responsibility is expected, it should not be at the expense of the civil rights of people with disabilities. Therefore, we call on RGRTA to restore Lift Line service to the town of Ogden immediately.

Buslines are being eliminated throughout Western NY and while this may impact the non-disabled in some ways, those of us who are dependent on para transit services to maintain our independence are affected in ways that most people cannot imagine. I started this petition not only for myself, but for all the other people in the Ogden area who have been affected by the elimination of the bus line which once serviced our area. Please help me in continuing to send letters to RGRTA to restore full service to this area.

    3. my conversation with rgrta

At my conversation with RGRTA, I was told I did not live in a doughnut, rather I lived in a triangle and was at the apex of such. -- due to this I was told my services would remain in the "supplemental service" area. however, as I was not informed of the changes as I should have been, they have temporarily restored my services through the end of the year. Today, in a follow up conversation with another member of the RGRTA staff, I was asked to consider updating this petition or removing it all together. I agreed to update it. While I am grateful for the temporary restoration of services, I am more concerned about maintaining my independence beginning January 1, 2012

    4. RGRTA has requested to meet with me

RGRTA called to request a meeting with me about my complaint -- they wanted me to meet them somewhere of my choosing, so i told them that as i could not guarantee that i could get a liftline reservation to come see them it might be best if we just met over the phone -- so i have a phone meeting with them next tuesday at 9 am :) -- will keep all posted -- thank you for all your love and support
