The Proposed School, if approved by the State University of New York Charter Schools Institute, would be a collaboration of efforts between the AU Education Foundation and SUNY–The College at Old Westbury, to create an advanced Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (“STEM”) pre-college school. Located on the college campus it would open in September 2013 and would serve students in ninth grade. The school will eventually grow to serve grades 9-12. If you have a child who will be 13 or 14 years old by December 2012 and who will graduate eight grade by June 2013, your child will be eligible to attend the Charter School when it opens! By signing this petition, you are indicating your personal interest in the proposed public charter school to serve children in Nassau County.

LIBN - The Long Island Business News published an article on 6/6/12 about the exciting proposed STEM school at SUNY Old Westbury College on Long Island.

New York kids and parents need to know about the potential for rewarding — and high paying careers in STEM. STEM professions and occupations are among the highest paying jobs. They are also the basis for a successful, globally competitive and innovative New York and U.S. economy. During the next decade, overall U.S. demand for scientists and engineers is expected to increase at four times the rate for all other occupations. Become a friend of the proposed Doshi STEM Charter School at SUNY Old Westbury.

Our public School System is not providing our young enough opportunity for abstract thought and challenges. We must reignite the passion to learn and give our children the opportunity to be leaders

What a wonderful opportunity for our youth! A school focused on science and technology. A place committed to bringing new ideas and ways of learning to the community. This is what we need for our children to compete in the world. Thank you SUNY and Dr. Doshi, Best Wishes, Theresa
